(Update to this page – added 3/1/2011 – please see this page which has the most current information about the Stuart Shils workshop)
I wanted to make a few announcements and generally let people know what’s in the works. As you can tell from the image above, the plans for having a San Diego spring workshop with Stuart Shils is finally coming together. Here is a link to a PDF brochure that will provide more information, for anyone with any questions or who might wish to register for this workshop please email me (larry (at sign) paintingperceptions.com) – please fix the email address for spam prevention.
Speaking of spam, Painting Perceptions has been hacked with a spam attack over the past couple of months or more off and on. Apparently, there is some vulnerability in the wordpress blog software that we use that allow hackers to get in and alter the code to attach various posts (that get enough traffic) in such a way that when someone Google’s painting perceptions or an artist that was written about the spammers add their info in the Google search results next to the article title (all seems to be meds like Tramadol – completely insane in that you can’t even click to go buy the meds, in case you got the urge to buy some cheap viagra after reading about Lucian Freud!). Doesn’t effect anything here, nothing is changed in the actual article or the site as a whole – only in the Google search results. Outrageous to say the least! I wanted to make sure people knew that we are working hard on a fix and thought we solved it only for it to return a few weeks later. If anyone knows more about this, we are all ears for a solution. In the mean time we will try a few more possibilities. I understand that many blogs using wordpress have been attacked this way.
There are a number of revisions to the site that I hope to make in the near future, eliminate a lot of visual clutter as well as allowing more than one post at a time. I know this site has slowed down in terms of the frequency of posts however I have a number of great articles in the works, including an amazing interview with Israel Hershberg that is almost finished and should be posted very soon.
In case anyone might have missed here is a link to a great article about Rackstraw Downes’s at the Artes Magazine site.
