About the New Painting Perceptions Redesign

January 12, 2016 By Larry Leave a Comment

I’m pleased to announce the launch of Painting Perception’s new redesign. Since I started Painting Perceptions in 2009 we have published well over 100 interviews as well as many essays, reviews, videos and slide shows. The new interface offers a much cleaner design with improved technology that allows for easier access to content and for multiple recent interviews and articles to be seen on the home page.

Other new features will include this spot – the Viewfinder, where I plan on writing opinion pieces and other brief essays on various topics on painting. There is a weekly slideshow of a featured artist, subject or approach to painting, a new selected videos section. We will soon add a new brief 2-4 questions interview section as well as a section for reviews or notable art events and other new features. These still being written and will be added soon.

If anyone wonders about why I’m messing with our site’s iconic logo – the detail from Corot’s Bridge at Narni The new site design is wider which caused the detail to not be wide enough for the space. To solve this problem I decided on making a collage, representing a bridging of past art with modern perceptual painting.

Going forward I would like to encourage contributions from anyone wishing to write essays, reviews, interviews or op-ed pieces. Painting Perceptions reaches a fairly large audience of painters, students and art lovers around the world and is continually expanding its readership. I’m particularly interested in finding someone who might be interested in regularly writing for the new Process and Technique column. The new contact page (a drop-down item from the about menu) had a form to allow people to submit an artist site for consideration for future articles, interviews or slideshow inclusion.

In order for this site to be sustainable and to expand with an even greater range of content we encourage advertising of artist workshops, training, supplies, artist books and other relevant marketing by painters to other painters. Please view the advertising page for more information on how to list your workshop both on the sidebar of the top page and in the workshop page. 30-40,000 page views or more a month of a highly targeted audience gives your workshop or offering greater online visibility. Also please consider a donation, just click on the donate to Painting Perceptions paypal button.

I’m open for suggestions about ways to improve this site. If you find something broken or is in need of attention in some way please let me know through the contact form (drop down from the about page) and I will take care of it as soon as possible.

Finally, I’d like to put in a plug for my webdesign side business that I run together with my wife, we did the redesign for this site as well as making sites for many painters and other artists. Please check out our site at TwoYellowPencils.com
