I ran across Tracy Everly’s paintings on Facebook recently and was struck by the warmth and joy in her work.
The clarity of light and air and the freshness of work made me think that despite the devastation wrought by the Covid-19 pandemic, we can still be awe-struck by newly revealed beauty, like seeing distant Himalayan mountains for the first time after long being hidden by industrial smog.
Tracy Everly writes on her website:
…the situation we find ourselves in is unprecedented, and it’s taking time to adjust. But what I truly believe about art, negative thoughts aside, is that it’s a way to communicate the vulnerability of being human, to acknowledge joy alongside the difficulty. Focusing on art does not mean we are ignoring the difficulties in the world. On the contrary. It means we are choosing to keep true to ourselves in spite of them.
She lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and considers herself largely self-taught but has taken courses at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and has painted for more than 20 years. She shows her work at Morpeth Contemporary Her website is https://tracyeverly.com/

Hi there…I’m reading your piece on my iPhone and the pause button is right in the middle of the paintings. Is there a reason for this?
Larry
that’s how the slideshow feature works – the pause button goes away when you click/press the slideshow navigation arrows, etc.

Hi…It doesn’t on my phone but I’m waiting for iOS 14.1. Thanks for your reply.
