Mike Hernandez
Title, size and date unknown – gouache

In an ideal world the public would all be clambering to buy paintings. However, most painters fall back on the day job to pay for the potatoes. If you are lucky (and very talented), like Mike Hernandez, you get to be an art director and concept artist at Dreamworks Animation working on such projects as the Bee Movie.

Working quickly to meet tight deadlines must help to build a confident, economical approach that shows through in his personal work of qouache paintings from life of scenes near where he lives and work. These landscapes and cityscapes are show confident draftsmanship fused with great sensitivity for color. You can see more of his works at his Gallery Nucleus. as well as on his blog.
